Master of Sustainable Forest Management (MSFM)

The course-based Master of Sustainable Forest Management provides students who have a Bachelor’s degree in ecology, physical geography, environmental sciences, forestry or allied disciplines, opportunities for advanced scholarship and professional growth in natural resource management principles and practice. It prepares students for careers as forestry professionals in North America and overseas, and sets the stage for life-long learning.

The program is designed to satisfy the academic standards for accreditation administered by the Canadian Forestry Accreditation Board (CFAB) and to enable graduates to meet the core academic requirements for certification of the member agencies of the Canadian Federation of Professional Foresters Associations (CFPFA).  The first class begins in the Summer 2012 Term.

Visit the MSFM Program page for more details.

Master of International Forestry (MIF)

The course-based Master of International Forestry provides students with opportunities for advanced scholarship and professional growth.  Graduates of the program will understand the global context for decision-making in forest management and conservation and will be able to apply this in the formulation and negotiation of regional, national and international forest policies, agreements and plans.  We expect our graduates will become international leaders in forest policy, forest management and conservation.

This program is still under development with an anticipated start date of August 2013.  We plan to have more details available by July 2012 so please bookmark this site and check back in the coming months.  You can also send us your email and we’ll let you know when more details are released:  mfm.program@ubc.ca
